The World of Bikers Long Distance Riding (LDR) programme gives members a certificate for completing long rides within set time limits. There are six levels, and each one is a harder test of endurance than the last. Here is what each level asks, so you can pick the right place to begin.

How the levels build on each other

You work through the levels in order. Level 2 needs your Level 1 certification, Level 3 needs Level 2, and so on, and a level counts only once it is certified, not just submitted. Only approved WoB members with an active status can take part, and you can have one attempt in progress at a time.

The six levels

  • Level 1, Easy Rider: 500 miles (805 km) in 12 hours or less. A foundational endurance challenge and the first milestone for most riders.
  • Level 2, Full Throttle: 1,000 miles (1,610 km) in 24 hours or less. A one-day marathon through day and night, where fatigue management and night navigation matter.
  • Level 3, King of the Road: 1,500 miles (2,415 km) in under 36 hours. Endurance stretched over two days, balancing speed, navigation and smart rest planning.
  • Level 4, Born to Be Wild (30 hours): the same 1,500 miles as Level 3, six hours tighter, with minimal rest.
  • Level 5, Born to Be Wild (24 hours): 1,500 miles in 24 hours. Not for the faint-hearted, with no margin for error.
  • Level 6, Coast to Coast: 2,440 miles (4,096 km) in 48 hours. The pinnacle of endurance riding, which also needs prior route approval from LDR Principals or Ambassadors.

So where should you start?

Almost everyone starts at Level 1, because it is required before Level 2 and gives you a first real test of fuel planning, rest stops and concentration. Treat it as practice for the harder levels: the lessons you learn in 12 hours carry through every level after it. Our long-distance ride checklist will help you prepare.

How a ride gets certified

You create your attempt in the WoB app, photograph your odometer at the start and at the end, add at least one mid-ride stop with a location-tagged photo, and finish with a completion selfie. The WoB admin reviews your evidence within 48 hours and may ask you to clarify details. After you pay the certification fee, you receive a numbered WoB LDR certificate and a level badge on your profile. Full details are on the LDR certification page.
